The Airport is proud to highlight a year of transformation in its annual report, driven by strategic investments, expanded air service and improvements across the guest journey

Hamilton, ON (April 20, 2026) – John C. Munro Hamilton International Airport (Hamilton International) is pleased to share its annual report for 2025, reflecting on a landmark year defined by significant enhancements to the terminal building and the launch of Porter Airlines (Porter).

The year began with strong momentum following two major announcements in February as Vantage Group unveiled plans for a multi-million-dollar terminal enhancement project alongside the introduction of Porter Airlines, with daily service to four Canadian destinations set to take off in June. Construction began immediately, with extensive upgrades spanning from the curb to the boarding gates to improve the overall guest experience and position the Airport for continued growth.

In June, Hamilton International unveiled its refreshed terminal, coinciding with Porter’s inaugural flights to Calgary, Edmonton, Halifax and Vancouver. The enhancements delivered a more modern, efficient and welcoming experience for guests, while the addition of new routes expanded travel options and strengthened connectivity for Southern Ontario travellers. Modernization efforts continued through the fall, including enhancements to the international arrivals hall and preparations for new border processing technologies including self-service inspection kiosks and NEXUS. The year culminated in a historic milestone in December with the introduction of the Airport’s first-ever passenger jet bridges, offering direct and weather-protected access from the terminal to the aircraft, further enhancing comfort and convenience for travellers.

“This past year marked a major step forward for Hamilton International. From the early announcement of our terminal enhancement project to the successful launch of new air service and the completion of key upgrades, we’ve built strong momentum across every part of our operation,” said Peter Tong, Chief Executive Officer of Hamilton International. “We are proud of what we’ve accomplished and remain focused on advancing this progress in the years ahead as we continue to expand connectivity and elevate service for the region.”

Hamilton International strengthened its passenger services in 2025, with expanded offerings and increased choice for travellers. Porter broadened its network and Hamilton presence, introducing its first-ever sun service with nonstop flights to Fort Lauderdale, Orlando, Cancun and Puerto Vallarta operating in addition to its four domestic routes through the winter. Similarly, WestJet expanded its winter vacation and sun offerings with enhanced packages to Punta Cana and Cancun, building on its integration with Sunwing Vacations Group. Furthermore, Air Canada Landline celebrated its first anniversary, marking a successful year of connecting travellers in comfort and style between Hamilton International and Toronto Pearson through its luxury motorcoach service.

Beyond passenger airline operations, Hamilton International continued to play a vital role in Canada’s supply chain as the country’s largest domestic overnight express cargo airport, optimizing the movement of high-value and time-sensitive goods from coast to coast and around the globe. Through collaboration with key cargo partners including Cargojet, DHL Express, UPS, Purolator, Canada Post and Amazon/Prime Air, the Airport facilitated 750 million kilograms of total cargo aircraft billable weight in 2025.

The Airport also advanced key land development initiatives across its Northeast Development Area. Latitude Air Ambulance opened its new 44,000 square-foot hangar and office complex, while construction progressed on Biddle Carson Developments’ 100,000-square-foot Fixed Base Operator facility. These projects reinforce Hamilton International’s position as a growing hub for aviation services, logistics and employment in the region.

Hamilton International was pleased to further its commitment to sustainability with several initiatives aimed at advancing the Airport’s path toward net-zero carbon such as transitioning seven of its operations vehicles to an all-electric fleet and achieving Level 2 accreditation through the Airport Carbon Accreditation Program. The Airport also contributed over $100,000 of financial and in-kind resources, including donations, sponsorships and other contributions, to various local organizations this year as part of its commitment to investing in its community and empowering the next generation of aviation professionals.
