Simulated security event to be conducted at the Airport to ensure regulatory compliance and evaluate emergency preparedness with involvement from multiple emergency response agencies and stakeholders
Hamilton, ON (October 21, 2025) – On Wednesday, October 22, 2025, between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m., John C. Munro Hamilton International Airport (Hamilton International) will conduct a full-scale emergency exercise to ensure compliance with Transport Canada regulations and evaluate the preparedness, coordination and response of airport personnel, local emergency services and airport stakeholders.
The exercise will involve collaboration between Hamilton International, the City of Hamilton, airline partners, federal and other agencies. Participants will engage in a variety of activities, including emergency response coordination, evacuation procedures, as well as incident command and communications.
Although members of the public may observe increased activity inside the terminal building and on airport grounds during the exercise, they should not be alarmed. There will be no impact on regular operations or passenger services during the exercise. Only authorized personnel will be admitted into the exercise area, and the exercise is not open to media participation.
“Ensuring the safety and security of everyone who visits and works at Hamilton International is our top priority,” said Ed Ratuski, Executive Managing Director, Hamilton International. “These exercises are a regulatory requirement and provide an opportunity to evaluate and refine our response protocols, train our people and strengthen the partnerships that are critical in any emergency response.”
