Hamilton, ON (March 14, 2019) – John C. Munro Hamilton International Airport is excited to announce new transportation options for passengers travelling to and from the Airport. Beginning March 31, Megabus will operate a daily service between downtown Toronto (Toronto Coach Terminal) and Hamilton International. Travelers will be able to pre-book their bus ticket on megabus.com starting from $21 one-way or purchase tickets when boarding the bus in Toronto or Hamilton.
Additionally, the Airport recently signed agreements with rideshare companies Uber, Lyft and Facedrive. These agreements will allow rideshare customers to be picked up and dropped off curbside at the Airport. Rideshare options complement the two Hamilton taxi companies – Blue Line Taxi and Hamilton Cab which will continue to serve Hamilton and the surrounding community.
The Hamilton Street Railway (HSR) continues to offer public transit service to the Airport along with several shuttle and limo companies offering pre-booked services. Car rental options are also expanding at Hamilton International which now offers four car rental services with Avis, Budget, Enterprise and National.
“The Airport facilitates the efficient movement of people and goods throughout Canada, the United States, Mexico, the Caribbean and now Europe, so it’s important that passengers are able to get to the Airport using their preferred mode for ground transportation,” said Cathie Puckering, President & CEO, John C. Munro Hamilton International Airport. “With nearly 20% of our customers originating from Toronto and its surrounding areas, these new services will be a great option for passengers wanting to take advantage of the affordable low-cost carriers that Hamilton International is home to.”
In the last two years, Hamilton International has experienced unprecedented growth in both passenger and cargo traffic. In 2018, 725,630 passengers travelled through Hamilton International representing a 21% growth compared to 2017 and a 118% growth compared to 2016. This growth has increased the demand for transportation options for customers using Hamilton International Airport. These new business partners provide more services that are in demand from the Airport’s growing customer base and are enabling Hamilton International to focus on delivering its vision to be the best global gateway in Canada for affordable travel and goods movement.
